2026 – 2027 Essential Information
Note: All property is taxed according to its ownership as of April 1st of each year.
All the exemptions, including Homestead, Blind & Veteran, are based on the Certified Ratio for the town designated by Maine Revenue Service (MRS) and based on the Valuation of the town and Real Estate Market sales.
When the Certified Ratio is at 100%, the maximum Homestead exemption is $25,000; the maximum Blind exemption is $4,000; and the maximum Veteran exemption is $6,000. This year the RE Market sales reflected a Certified Ratio of 89%, which was approved by MRS, therefore the Homestead was reduced .89 to $22,250; Blind was reduced to $3,560; and Veteran was reduced to $5,340.
