Town Clerk-Town of Paris
The Town of Paris is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our amazing team as a Full-Time Clerk.
Position Overview:
Applicants should be detail-orientated, ability to interact with the public and other State agencies and possess strong computer skills. The successful candidate will perform the legally required duties of the statutory offices of Bureau of Motor Vehicle Agent, Hunting and Fishing License/Registration Agent, and Registrar of Voters, and Secretary to the Board of Selectmen and Town Manager.
Employee of this class is responsible for the supervision of two deputy clerks and preparation and maintenance of official documents; supervision of elections; issuance of various licenses and permits; recording various documents; and preparation of reports and agendas.
Work is performed in accordance with the Town ordinances and State and federal laws with a high degree of independence and general supervision from the Town Manager.
Qualifications:
- Preferred minimum three (3) years prior municipal work experience.
- Knowledge of tax process including tax lien requirements.
- Knowledge of municipal accounting and cash management practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of the State statutes relating to the duties and responsibilities of town treasurers and tax collectors.
- Knowledge and understanding of the State statutes relating to elections.
- Ability to be certified for registrations/licensing by the Maine Departments of Motor Vehicles, Inland Fisheries (MOSES), Secretary of State (Vital Records and Voter Registrations) and to be appointed as a Notary Public.
Work Schedule:\ This is a full-time, salaried position with occasional evening hours for board meetings, elections or special events.
